| Thanks for post TJ I would expect no less from a big stack blind and am 100% sure you would have made the same bet no matter what the flop. | |

| Like the bet sizing on the flop bet Joe. Makes it look just like a K, that is trying to price out a flush draw. |

| IMO, Dan's bet on the flop was non committing so there was a potential for him to lay it down if a scare card hits the flop.
As JWK said the flop bet was exactly what I would have made with a K to deny a possible flush draw. So the story is complete. I could flat the pre-flop raise with a king and a broadway card and the flop bets continues the story.
For bluff to be workable you need an aware opponent in a non committing situation and your actions have be consistent on each street. Had Dan bet some more pre-flop (ie, made it 3.5 BB to go) it would look committing and I would fold. I haven't been unreasonable with anything I had shown down at this table so my image is intact. Although it should be well known that I can mix it up on occasion, I hadn't been previously at this table.
This is also an example of multi-level thinking where I am asking myself "what does my opponent think I have?"
Anyway I thought it would be instructional and I thank everyone for their comments.
Good Decisions!

I once operated by that theory but have recently added some exceptions. I will open 3x most of the time with 2.5x and 3.5x thrown at a randomized intervals. Then I will add some situational exceptions. If the tables are loose passive I raise on the larger end more. On deep money I'll weight 2.5x heavier. On shallow money I may weight 3.5x more sometimes depending on the table and stacks especially if I'm a big stack pounding on a little one. One of the plusses is it gets me more involved in reading pre-flop conditions. With a standard opening and a standard re-raise amount pre-flop had become too mechanical for me. Just food for thought.
