About Damn Time!

My first win in a DFS GPP. So many top-10's and top-5's,some 2nd's and 3rd's...very profitable but damn I want to win one. Busted through last night. This was a $3 All Day event (can use players from both afternoon and night games) and it literally came down to my last AB...Mike Trout up with one on and one out in the bottom of the 8th and his team leading 5-0 already. I was in 2nd,had that spot locked as every other team in the top 16 was done for the night.

I needed a 6-point AB from Trout...double and an rbi or run scored,that's 7. Or a single,walk or HBP and a steal,that's 7,but unlikely with a slow runner on base in front of him. Instead he got a cement mixer slider and belted it into the LF seats for a HR. YAHTZEE!

For background...the similarities between how game selection is set up and rewards programs and the like,DFS sites (at least DraftKings,I don't play at FanDuel) are much like online poker sites.

GPP's are guaranteed prize pool tournaments,think of them like MTT's. Cash games (double-ups,50/50's and that sort of game) are like SNG's. Then they have short field GPP's (300 players or less) that are like the 180 and 360 SNG/MTT combos.

The one I just shipped was 941 entries. 8 entries max per person (some larger field MTT's allow up to 50 different entries per person). I only entered the one team and I went around site and checked...in ALL the all-day games they offered on Wednesday I had,with my 224.10 points,the single highest scoring team. Not just in my tournament. That was pretty cool to see.

Of course anyone who played an all-day game or afternoon games only slate that day (I played some of them as well...cashed,but no "splash" finishes) and didn't use the Rockies Nolan Arenado as their 3rd baseman in their lineup had no chance. He going 5-6 with 3 HR's and 7 rbi's and all.
