Drunk Tank Team Challenge

Well it was an exciting run this month where the lead kept changing back and forth.  It was neck and neck and ended with a photo finish at the finish line.  In the end, it would be a bunch of Boozers who stuck their necks out just far enough to win the right to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a valiant effort that included horse riding, cattle rustling, and some old fashioned target shooting and coupled with some ITP scores by Chelle867, PsychoVas, Morganhell's, CaseyBaby1, Phoenix Maya, and Horsewoman72.  Including 1 first place win by Horsewoman, The Funny Farm team has ended this season in last place.  So if you see any of them looking like they are kicking dirt and holding pitchforks you will understand why. They do, however, win the third place prize and our thanks for a job well done.

In second place for the season is The Wizards.  The magical adventuring team fought hard to the end with impressive showings from several of the members which included contributions by Moxie Pip, Wetmoose 613, Effsea, and GandalfDwite,, still it was not enough to catch up to the Boozer lead.  They will get the second place prize and honorable mention.

In the end it was an awesome steady and all around performance of the fast drinking core who rallied even while their captain was absent, coupled with a significant cheer leading, that caused a win for the Boozer team.  It was a strong contingent of players that saw contributions from every member of the team including TrumpinJoe, Buzzliyear, Tteradactyl, zzHoneyBeezz, Rhino4646, Nobisquit, and Johnny Oak, that was good enough to take Team Boozers into an exclusive lead on the final day of the season.  Providing assistance was Rhino and Johnny Oak who added 3 first place wins. They will split the first place prize of 10K chips for each of the players.

This is the month for Spring and New beginnings.  For this April we will continue with our regular format with a twist.  We will have three teams who will be playing for top points and bragging rights, but we will also be looking for our Most Valuable Player to place his/her name on a trophy.  All members who finished in the top 21 from the prior month and had 4 or more games will be qualified to be added to the teams. For anyone who didn't, please stop in and play so you can be qualified for next month's Challenge.

As usual, here are a few suggestions and rules to make it fair to everyone... This is a fun challenge and a friendly competition...  NO ganging up on opposing members, OR taking it easy on your own members.  Play as you normally do and at the end of the month, after the final game has been played, the points will be tallied to see which group gets bragging rights.

Rule 1 – The top three players (from the previous month) will be assigned as Captains of their teams and will get the honor of naming that team.  (If a player declines we will go to next in line on that team.)

Rule 2 – Teams will consist of 7 players initially assigned to each team. If any member of a team has not played for a 5 day period within the month, the Captain can request (via a PM to me) that they be replaced by the next highest eligible player (see replacement policy below). All points earned by the replacement up to that point will be added to the gaining team’s score.  

Rule 3 – The winning team will receive bragging rights and a wonderful trophy.  In addition, there will be one MVP selected for the month.  The MVP will be awarded to anyone who can outscore their Captain.  Simply score more points for your team than your captain does and win the prize. If more than one person, the highest differential will win.

Rule 4 – This month we will be using a scoring system to include a combined score of Tanker Points and Knock Outs.  Tanker Points are assigned by order of finish and depend on the number of players in each game.  All players will get some points for each game.

Replacement Policy – All players of the Drunk Tank that were not selected to be on one of the three teams will automatically be added to a free agents team.  If a player misses five or more days the Captain can request a replacement.  At that time I will assign the highest scoring free agent to the team.  If this free agent has opted out for the month I will send them a one-time request to join a team.  If they respond within 24 hrs, that they would like to join, they will be added.  If they turn down the request, (or do not respond), they will then become unavailable for the rest of the month.  Only one replacement will be allowed for each 5-day period, and no replacements are allowed in the final period.

I will add updates to this thread (approx) every 5 days as to how the teams are doing.  Good luck to all three teams and hope we can have a close race this month.

Simply Put the MVP will be the one that outscores his/her captain by the most points.

Attached is a PDF of the current point distributions.

On this attachment you can see that Horsewoman is the point leader on her team, so no MVP candidates there.
Rhino is beating Gandalf for total points on the Wizards, but only by 1 point.
However, Jordan has scored a total of 22 points and is beating me by 7 points, as I only have 15.  Casey is also beating me, but Jordan has the largest differential.

So as of today, Jordan is frontrunner for MVP.

If there are still more questions, be sure to ask. I will be posting these results every 5 days as usual and I will always identify who the MVP frontrunner is at the time.

OK it's April the time when a young man's fancy turns to poker.  Yes it's spring and one of the teams has sprung into an early lead.  Of course, it is way too early in the contest, and anything could happen for the rest of the month.

As usual the team play and performance is outstanding.  Attendance seems to be down a bit, so call your friends and talk them into coming out for the games.  We are currently using a three team format with virtually no subs available, but perhaps we can pick it up in the next few months.  


Strutting into first place with a strong combination of ITP wins by Jordan2652, CaseyBaby1, and Johnny Oak, who combined to finish in all 5 tournies was team Boozers.  Included was 4 first place wins by Jordan and Johnny Oak.  

Allthough there was an impressive collection of wins by several members of the team, including Phoenix Maya, Rhino4646, and GandalfDwite, Team Wizards fell just short to land into second place.  Congratulations to Rhino who posted a first place win as well.  

In this the first period of the month, Team Funny Farm now find themselves in third place, despite point contributions by TrumpinJoe, Nobisquit, and Horsewoman72.  

When asked, Captain HW said,  "It's just a matter of putting one hoof in front of the other, and other, and other."

Well it's still snowing in some parts, but warming up in others.  As the weather warms up one of the teams has taken advantage by extending their early lead.  However don't despair, there is still a lot of time left, and the leaders have been caught before.

Stretching out their first place lead with a strong combination of ITP wins by Tom905, CaseyBaby1, and Johnny Oak, who combined to contribute points was team Boozers.  Included was 2 first place wins by Johnny Oak.  

Incredibly there was a good collection of wins by most members of the team, including Chelle867, Firemedic815, Phoenix Maya, Rhino4646, and GandalfDwite, Team Wizards fell just short to land into second place.  Congratulations to Chelle who posted a first place win as well.  

In this the third period of the month, Team Funny Farm still find themselves in third place, despite point contributions by PsychoVas, Mcedger, and Horsewoman72.

OK the snow is finally starting to melt, and Beezz driveway is clear.  However, the warmer weather has not changed much for the team line up and one of the teams is holding on to their early lead.  Don't despair, there is still time left, and the leaders have been caught before.

As usual we have good play and performance is outstanding.  It is a pleasure to see all the players who are still at the table when the HU players finally quit.  We still need more though, so keep reminding your friends to come out for the games.

In this the fourth period of the month, Team Funny Farm did make up some ground but still find themselves in third place, despite point contributions by PsychoVas, and Effsea.

Well we are coming into the final days and one of the teams is making mad push at the end.  However, the first place team is still holding on to their early lead, but the lead has been cut down to only 2 points.

As usual we have good play and performance is outstanding.  It is wonderful to see some old players coming back.  We still need more though, so have a talk with your friends to come out for the games.    


Just barely holding on to their first place lead with a strong combination of ITP wins by Tom905, Jordan2652, zzHoneyBeezz, CaseyBaby1, and Johnny Oak, who combined to contribute points was team Boozers.  Included was another awesome first place win by Jordan.  

Breathing down their necks with a big jump was a good collection of wins by nearly every member of the team, including Wetmoose 613, Firemedic815, Phoenix Maya, Rhino4646, and GandalfDwite, Team Wizards closed the gap but fell just a tiny bit short to land into second place.  Congratulations to Wetmoose, Firemedic, Phoenix Maya, and Gandalf who posted a fantastic 4 first place wins as well.  

In this the fifth period of the month, Team Funny Farm are fighting an uphill battle and still find themselves in third place, despite point contributions by Buzzliyear, Mcedger, and Horsewoman72.

Well it was a good race this month and it looked like we might have a come from behind winner.  It was neck and neck toward the end, but the team that was in the lead rallied in the final stretch.  In the end, it would be a hardy bunch of Boozers who extended their lead just far enough to win the right to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a valiant effort that included some psychological ramblings and coupled with some ITP scores by TrumpinJoe, Mcedger, and Horsewoman72.  Including 2 first place wins by Mcedger.  The Funny Farm team has ended this season in last place.  So if you see any of them looking like they are plowing the north forty you will understand why. They do, however, win the third place prize and our thanks for a job well done.
