Drunk Tank Team Challenge

I have decided that all future updates to the Team Challenge will be posted here in this forum. It seems more appropriate since that information is only relevant to the Tank players. If you are reading this then you have already found your way to this forum, but if you know of someone who has not found their way, please give them the info they need to get here.

nice win last night johhny playd realy well and good second place jordan good heads up and well playd to every one that made points for there team. its geting close the last 6 days are going to be fun so dont miss it get in there and help youre teams out all points are going to be very valuable points. good luck to every one and lets have some fun and pull a leg or 2.

The results for the fifth period in March are ready. We did see one of the teams charge ahead from the rest of the group, but there is still time and there promises to be a lot of pushing and shoving for the last five days.

We had 25 players on Saturday and 24 tonight, can't say enough about the support and the people playing in the Tank.


Still holding on to first place with 3 place wins by Jordan 2652 and additional contributions by JWK24, Buzzliyear, Easychips4U, JerseyRon, Grade b, and Mischiff, who all finished ITP in all 5 tournies was team Shot Chasers.

After a big boost of team spirit, the Big Stack Bully Busters now find themselves in second place, and can thank the contributions of Sinman64, Brkn80, Oriholic, Tom905, FaeryTats, and Chelle867.

Although there were 3 place wins by veteran Effsea and a collection of contibutions by Morganhell's, Mcrissenger, Mtnestegg, and Johnny Oak, Team Boozers fell to third place.

When asked, Captain Johnny said, "Boozers are like super balls, you throw 'em down, they bounce back twice as fast."

The Tank is a wonderful place to be, and it is the players as well that make it that way.

For those that do not already know, we have had such a tremendous surge in attendance that we have decided to go to four teams next month. So the top four players (after tonight) will be asked if they want to be Captains and new teams will be formed from the top 32 players that have 5 or more games.

If there is anyone who would like to be excluded from the team selection process, please let me or Tats know. Otherwise it will be automatic.

oh no more pressure great idea x specially with the number of peeps

This was one of the most competitive months we have ever had. We saw a lot of new players bumping and grinding and pushing their way to the top. And team spirit was awesome as each night the final table would get railed by team member cheering their mates on. In the end though it would be a new team Captain, a bunch of new players, and a few old vets who got to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a mid season rally and some last minute efforts which included scores by Sinman64, Faery Tats, Tom905, Hozzer44820, and Chelle867, team Big Stack Bully Busters has ended this season in last place. So if you see any of them sitting on their Buster Bootys, tell them better luck next month.

In second place for the season is team Boozers. Even though they had an impressive 9 ITM showings in the last period including 3 by Morganhells, and contributions by Effsea, Mcrissinger, Mtnestegg, Phoenix Maya, Moxie Pip, and Johnny Oak, it was not enough to catch up to the Shot Chasers lead. They do, however, win the second place prize of 1600 play chips to distribute to the team members.

In the end it was the performance and pep talks given by Captain Mischiff that caused a win for the Shot Chasers. It was a strong contigent of new players including Buzzonbi, Jordan2652, and Buzzliyear along with some savvy oldsters like JWK24, Easychips4U, JerseyRon, Grade b, and Mischiff, that was good enough to push Team Shot Chasers into a decisive lead on the final day of the season. The Chasers will split the first place prize of 8000 chips amonst it's players.

Man it was a really tough race last month, but now it's time to start a new season. As you may know we have had a tremendous surge in the popularity of our friendly TEAM challenge in the Drunk Tank. This month we would like to expand on that tradition.

For April we will increase to four teams who will be playing for top points and bragging rights. Anyone who finished in the top 32 from the prior month and had 5 or more games will be qualified to be added to the teams. For those who didn't, please stop in and play so you can be qualified for next month's Challenge.

As usual, here are a few suggestions and rules to make it fair to everyone...

This is a fun challenge and a friendly competition...NO ganging up on opposing members OR taking it easy on your own members.

Play as you normally do and at the end of the month after the final game is played the points will be tallied to see which group gets bragging rights.

Rule 1 – The top four players (from the previous month) will be assigned as Captains of their teams and will get the honor of naming that team.

Rule 2 – Teams will consist of 8 players initially assigned to each team. If any member of a team has not played for a 7 day period within the month, the Captain can request (via a PM to me) that they be replaced by the next highest eligible player. All points earned by the replacement up to that point will be added to the gaining team’s score.

Rule 3 – The Captain of the winning team will receive 8000 chips to distribute to their team members. Second place team will get 4000. Third place will get 1600, and Fourth place will get to watch as the other teams count their chips.

New Rule 4 – This season we will be using a new scoring system that includes Points, Games, and Knock Outs. The player’s score will be the accumulative total of the Number of games played, + the Number of KO’s earned, and + the Winning Game points. Now a player can score points for their team even if they don’t reach the top 20% for the night.

So here are the new teams as determined by last month's finishing order,

Just keep in mind, there are three Team Captains, Buzzliyear, Jordan, and Sinman.

The drunks might stagger in but the Rum Runners are gonna run over you lot.

I am reminded of a story. Three guys walk into a bar and ask for a bottle of whiskey. When the bar tender puts it down the Drunk says, Hey that bottle is half empty. The Rum Runner says, no it's not, it's half full. While they argued about it, the Boozer drank it.

And all the Sinners and Saints said wow, what just happened?

can't i ask about rule 4 do you get points if you sign up and sit out all game?

That is a really good question Grade b.

I imagine we'd need figure out a way to make sure points are not accumulated if a person sits the entire game...

However, there will be times where a player will only be sitting out for a portion of the game, but will be able to join and play with the group...

In these instances, would situations that fall within this realm still be eligible for points?

Short answer - Yes you get 1 point

Long answer - I considered that when I decided to add the game total in the score. First I figured - it doesn't happen that often. Mostly the ones I have seen that do sit out are not high enough on the leaderboard to be on a team, and in that case there would be no affect. Secondly, I thought if a team member did sit out, it would only be 1 point they would gain, since there would not be any possibility for KO's or game points, and in that case the affect would be negligible. But yes the system will count it as a game even if the player doesn't play. But I think we will live with that for a month. If it is a problem we will change it next month.

Sorry I haven't been available to play, on a trip to Utah visiting and taking a workshop at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and then when tried to play on laptop have an error message that logged onto another computer, sent email to pokerstars, so far no response, frustrating, enjoying the trip, miss playing at the tank, understand if team captain needs to remove me, have fun at the tables
