Drunk Tank Team Challenge II

Here we go!  The horses are in the home stretch.  We have now completed the fifth period for January, and it looks like there has been another shake up in the top 3 teams.  First place has been captured by a come from behind runner and there is a battle over second and third.  However, all 8 teams are still in the running but someone would have to make a major charge.  One good finish by any of them could change things in the race.

Keep up the attendance and team play, it has really made a difference in the level of play and the quality of competition.  Listed below are the current teams in the Top 3 positions.



Sneaking up to take the lead in first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by both FLSnookman and Rhino4646 .  It is the first time in history that a Florida Fish and African Rhino have combined to do so well together. Congratulations to FLSnookman who also had a first place win.

Despite the valiant effort and 2 highly ranked ITP finishes, Johnny Oak and MeowSasKitty managed to slip down to secure a hold on second place.  (sorry Kitty, I will try harder)

In this fifth period of the month, Team GandalfDwite and Tom905 find themselves in third place, also slipping back one place but still in a position to claim one of the top spots.  With ITP, FT, and KO contributions from both members as well as a first place win by Gandalf.  

Other team members posting Game point contributions were LeoDD383, Effsea, Howitzer2007, Horsewoman72, Phoenix Maya, zzHoneyBeezz, and Joy7108.

In addition there was a first place wins by Howitzer2007, Horsewoman72, and Effsea for the Teams.

Just looking at the standings in the Tank lobby you can see it's a really competitive month, talk about a close race!!!!! WTF Tankers. Oh yeah. . . . Get spooky and rhino! !!!! :-):-)

It's going to be close!

Only 12 points difference between the top 5 teams.  Let's see who is going to be able to pull it off.

Well it was an exciting run this month where the lead kept changing back and forth.  It was neck and neck and ended with a photo finish at the finish line.  In the end, it would be a pair of come from behind players who stuck their necks out just far enough to win the right to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a valiant effort that included being in the lead for most of the month and coupled with 4 ITP scores by Johnny Oak and MeowSasKitty,  this team has ended this season in third place.  So if you see a cat in a tree looking like almost winners you will understand why. They do, however, win the third place prize and our thanks for a job well done.

In second place for the season is Team FLSnookman and Rhino4646.  This adventurous team fought hard to the end with impressive showings from both members which included 4 ITP contributions that brought them up in the standings.  Still it was not enough to match the last minute push by the other team.  They will get the second place prize $5 each and honorable mention.

In the end it was an awesome steady and all around performance of the fast climbing duo who rallied up from the depths and who both scored high in the last game of the season to take the last minute lead.  It was a strong performance by GadalfDwite and Tom905 that saw contributions from both members and included 2 first place wins by Gandalf, that was good enough to take the Team into an exclusive lead on the final day of the season.  They will split the first place prizes of $10 for each of the players.

Thank you Tankers, Awesome poker for this month and great to see more tankers coming out to play. Lets keep this format going.

Hey that was so much fun, let’s do it again.  For this month we will be sticking with the new format.  We will have teams made up of two people per team who will be playing for top points and bragging rights.  All members who finished last month with 10 or more games will be qualified and added to the teams. For anyone who didn't, please stop in and play more often so you can be qualified for next month's Challenge.

As before, here are a few suggestions and rules to make it fair to everyone... This is a fun challenge and a friendly competition...  NO ganging up on opposing members, OR chip dumping to your partners.  Checking down a hand with only you and your partner is acceptable, but all other team play tactics should be avoided.  Play as you normally do in the Tank and at the end of the month, after the final game has been played, the points will be tallied to see which team gets bragging rights.

Rule 1 – The Top 16 members that played 10 or more games from the previous month will be paired High to Low according to their finishing order (as determined by PS standings).  So if 16 players qualify, 1 will be paired with 16, 2 with 15, and so forth.  (If a player declines we will go to next in line.)

Rule 2 – Teams will consist of 2 players initially assigned to each team. If either member of a team has not played for a 5 day period within the month, the partner can request (via a PM to me) that they be replaced by the next highest eligible player (see replacement policy below). All points earned by the replacement up to that point will be added to the gaining team’s score.  

Rule 3 – The winning team will receive bragging rights (including a virtual trophy) as well as a prize worth $20 to distribute to their team members (10 apiece).  Second place team will get a prize worth $10 (5 apiece).  Third place will get a big “Thank You for Playing” bumper sticker.

Rule 4 – This season we will use a scoring system to include 1 point for every Final Table, 1 point for each KO, and the combined Game points provided from the Poker Stars Game format.

Replacement Policy – All players of the Drunk Tank that were not selected to be on one of the teams, and have played 5 games in either the current or previous month, will automatically be added to a free agents list.  If a player misses five or more consecutive days the Partner can request a replacement.  At that time I will assign the highest scoring free agent (if there is one) to the team.  If this free agent has opted out for the month I will send them a one-time request to join a team.  If they respond within 24 hrs, that they would like to join, they will be added.  If they turn down the request, (or do not respond), then they will become unavailable for the rest of the month.  Only one replacement will be allowed for each month, and no replacements are allowed in the final period.

Special Note:  At any time during the first 15 days of competition, any two free agents can form a new and separate team.  Simply PM me, or post on the Club Wall, the two names that wish to play.  All points earned by both players will count for their total score.  After 15 days, free agents can only become replacement partners.

I will add updates to this thread (approx) every 5 days as to how the teams are doing.  Good luck to all the teams and hope we can have another close race this month.

Weeeeeee Moose you and I are the only one's that get pair up again for a second month in a row. Now that we have our practice month behind us we can cause a lot of trouble this month.

The first period results for February are in, and one of the teams has bolted out of the gate into an early lead.  However, it is very early in the race, and the top 3 teams are bumping around for position.

As a continuation of last month, I am absolutely thrilled by the attendance and team play; and the new format seems to have injected the spirit I was hoping for.  The two person teams will make for a serious competition.  Listed below are the current teams in the Top 3 positions.


Blasting their way into first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by both GandalfDwite and TrumpinJoe.  Congratulations to TrumpinJoe who took down a first place win.

Allthough they both scored ITP finishes Johnny Oak and Phoenix Maya fell short to land into second place.  
 
In this first period of the month, Team Horsewoman and Wetmoose 613 find themselves in third place, despite ITP, FT, and KO contributions from both members.  With Horsewoman scoring a first place win.

Other Game point contributions came from MeowSasKitty, Rhino4646, LeoDD383, Effsea, and Tom905.

Also helping out with first place wins were MeowSasKitty and Effsea for the teams and Oriholic for the free agents.

One of the teams has requested and received a roster change.  The new player will be Oriholic and he will be added to Effsea's team, his accumulated points will be added to the receiving team's total score.  This player will replace a player that has been inactive for 5 days.  Good luck to all the teams and look for a new update here after the 10th.

OK we have now completed the second period results for February, and one of the teams has moved into a substantial early lead.  However, there are 8 horses in the race, and still plenty of time for someone to catch up to them.

I am still elated by the attendance and team play; and we are seeing some old timers come back and join us, which is outstanding.  Meanwhile the two person teams are making for some serious competition.  Listed below are the current teams in the Top 3 positions.



Pushing their way into first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins, KO's and FT's by GandalfDwite and TrumpinJoe.  Congratulations to both members who each took down a first place win.

Maintaining their hold on first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by both GandalfDwite and TrumpinJoe.  In fact it looks like this team is going to be hard to catch.  Joe was on fire and claimed one of the first place wins as well.

Although they keep getting good scores with a total of 4 highly ranked ITP finishes Horsewoman72 and Wetmoose 613 are managing to keep a hold on second place.  Congratulations to Moose who brought in a first place win.

In this third period of the month, Team Johnny Oak and Phoenix Maya find themselves in third place, despite a combination of ITP, FT, and KO contributions from both members.

In addition there were back to back first place wins by Oriholic for the teams and one for GTAE92 for the free agents.
