Drunk Tank Team Challenge II

OK we have turned the corner and are heading for the home stretch.  We have now completed the fourth period for February, and it looks like the number one team is running away with it.  The first place has extended its lead, but the same two teams are in second and third.  However, all 8 teams are still in the running and everyone is scoring points.  One good finish by any of them could change things in the race.

Man I love the attendance and team play, it has really made a difference in the level of play and the quality of competition.  Listed below are the current teams in the Top 3 positions.



Stretching their lead on first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by both GandalfDwite and TrumpinJoe.  It is the first time in history that a fat cat and wizard have worked so well together.  Most of that due to 2 first place wins by TrumpinJoe.

Although they are scoring consistently with a total of 3 highly ranked ITP finishes, Horsewoman72 and Wetmoose 613 managed to hold onto second place.  Congratulations to Horsewoman who also had a first place win.

In this fourth period of the month, Team Johnny Oak and Phoenix Maya find themselves in third place, also holding on to claim one of the top spots.  With ITP, FT, and KO contributions from both members.  

Other team members posting Game point contributions were LeoDD383, Joy7108, Effsea, Howitzer2007, Tom905, and zzHoneyBeezz.

In addition there was a first place win by zzHoneyBeezz for the Team Members and Jordan2652 for the free agents.

Extending their lead in first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by both GandalfDwite and TrumpinJoe .  It is the first time in history that a Grumpy Cat and Grumpy Wizard have combined to do so well together. Congratulations to TrumpinJoe who also had 2 first place wins.

Yes it was another fun run this month.  Sometimes these things are close, sometimes it's a run-away.  This month one team took the lead on the first week and never looked back.  In the end, it would be the waking of a sleeping giant paired with the consistent play of an old wizard that got the right to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a valiant effort that included a last minute push at the end of the month and coupled with 4 ITP scores by Johnny Oak and Phoenix Maya, this team has ended this season in third place.  So if you see a firebird sitting in a tree looking like almost winners you will understand why. They do, however, win the third place prize and our thanks for a job well done.

In second place for the season is Team Horsewoman72 and Wetmoose 613.  This well tuned machine fought hard to the end with impressive showings from both members which included a first place win by Moose that brought them up in the standings.  Still it was not enough to catch the massive lead by the other team.  They will get the second place prize $5 each and honorable mention.

In the end it was an awesome steady and all around performance of the two juggernauts who continuously scored high in the rankings.  Seems like when one was off the other took the lead. It was a strong performance by GandalfDwite and TrumpinJoe that saw contributions from both members and included a first place win by Gandalf, that was good enough to take the Team into an exclusive lead on the final day of the season.  They will split the first place prizes of $10 for each of the players.

Thank you Chelle the trophies are beautiful. Congrats Gand and TJ you came out and took a commanding lead had us all eating your dust all month, good job, good poker, great competition!!!!

Hey that was so much fun, let’s do it again.  For this month we will be sticking with the new format.  We will have teams made up of two people per team who will be playing for top points and bragging rights.  All members who finished last month with 11 or more games will be qualified and added to the teams. For anyone who didn't, please stop in and play more often so you can be qualified for next month's Challenge.

As before, here are a few suggestions and rules to make it fair to everyone... This is a fun challenge and a friendly competition...  NO ganging up on opposing members, OR chip dumping to your partners.  Checking down a hand with only you and your partner is acceptable, but all other team play tactics should be avoided.  Play as you normally do in the Tank and at the end of the month, after the final game has been played, the points will be tallied to see which team gets bragging rights.

Rule 1 – The Top 16 members that played 11 or more games from the previous month will be paired High to Low according to their finishing order (as determined by PS standings).  So if 16 players qualify, 1 will be paired with 16, 2 with 15, and so forth.  (If a player declines we will go to next in line.)

Rule 2 – Teams will consist of 2 players initially assigned to each team. If either member of a team has not played for a 5 day period within the month, the partner can request (via a PM to me) that they be replaced by the next highest eligible player (see replacement policy below). All points earned by the replacement up to that point will be added to the gaining team’s score.  

Rule 3 – The winning team will receive bragging rights (including a virtual trophy) as well as a prize worth $20 to distribute to their team members (10 apiece).  Second place team will get a prize worth $10 (5 apiece).  Third place will get a big “Thank You for Playing” bumper sticker.

Rule 4 – This season we will use a scoring system to include 1 point for every Final Table, 1 point for each KO, and the combined Game points provided from the Poker Stars Game format.

Replacement Policy – All players of the Drunk Tank that were not selected to be on one of the teams, and have played 5 games in either the current or previous month, will automatically be added to a free agents list.  If a player misses five or more consecutive days the Partner can request a replacement.  At that time I will assign the highest scoring free agent (if there is one) to the team.  If this free agent has opted out for the month I will send them a one-time request to join a team.  If they respond within 24 hrs, that they would like to join, they will be added.  If they turn down the request, (or do not respond), then they will become unavailable for the rest of the month.  Only one replacement will be allowed for each month, and no replacements are allowed in the final period.

Special Note:  At any time during the first 15 days of competition, any two free agents can form a new and separate team.  Simply PM me, or post on the Club Wall, the two names that wish to play.  All points earned by both players will count for their total score.  After 15 days, free agents can only become replacement partners.

I will add updates to this thread (approx) every 5 days as to how the teams are doing.  Good luck to all the teams and hope we can have a close race this month.

There has been a slight down turn of the attendance for this month. Due to this we have had to make some adjustments to the team rosters. We will reduce the total number of teams to 6 and combine some players. The two new teams will be GandalfDwite and Phoenix Maya, and LeoDD383 and Wetmoose 613, the accumulated points will be added to the receiving team's total score. These players will replace other members that have been inactive for 5 days. All other teams will remain the same. If or when the absentee players return they can form additional teams if they want. Good luck to all the teams.

The first period results for March are in, and one of the horses has literally bolted out of the gate into an early lead.  However, it is very early in the race, and the top 3 teams are bumping around for position.

Although we have suffered a slight decline in attendance due to spring fever, we did have to reduce the number of teams.  That's all right, the remaining teams will offer the team spirit I was hoping for.  The two person teams will still make for a serious competition.  Listed below are the current teams in the Top 3 positions.


Blasting their way into first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by both Horsewoman72 and Rhino4646.  Congratulations to Horsewoman who took down an incredible 3 out of 5 of the first place wins.

Allthough they both scored well Wetmoose 613 and LeoDD383 fell short to land into second place.  With Wetmoose scoring a first place win.
 
In this first period of the month, Team zzHoneyBeezz and Effsea find themselves in third place, despite ITP, FT, and KO contributions from both members.

We have now completed the fourth period results for March, and we are over half way through the month.  The same team is in the first spot and stretching their lead, but there are still 5 other horses in the race, and we have seen that you can make up a lot of ground quickly in this race.

The attendance has dropped back down a little, must be all the spring fever in the air. Listed below are the current teams in the Top 3 positions.
