Drunk Tank Team Challenge

The fourth period results for December are in, and one of the teams is stretching their lead.  We are more than half way through the contest, if the other two teams are going to catch them, they need to kick it in now.

Once again the enthusiasm and performance is outstanding.  The girl's team seems undaunted and as loud as ever and slaps the back of the head of any boy who comes near them.  The rivalry from the rail has increased dramatically, but the two male crews are holding their own.


Maintaining their lead in first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by nearly every member of the team including HoboJim11247, Wetmoose 613, Rhino4646, Johnny Oak, and GandalfDwite, was team Wizards.  Congratulations to Johnny Oak and Gandalf who managed to post 2 first place wins.

Allthough there was a collection of ITP wins by several members of the team, including Buzzliyear, Howitzer2007, Tom905, Jordan2652, and Effsea, The Hiccup team still fell short to land into second place.  This included an awesome performance by Howitzer and Buzzliyear who both scored a first place win.
   
In this the fourth period of the month, Team Wreckin' Ballz finds themselves in third place, despite ITP contributions by Phoenix Maya.    

When asked, Captain HoneyBee said,  "I'm baking some 'special' brownies for the boyz."

The fifth period results for December are in, and one of the teams is running away with it.  We are in the last stretch, and although it looks like a monumental task, the other two teams could theoretically catch them.

One thing that is not wavering is the enthusiasm and performance.  The girl's team seems to out cheer everyone else and threatens any boy who comes near them, (but they sure look good doing it).  The banter from the rail has increased dramatically, but is still fun to watch.


Compounding their lead in first place with a strong combination of In the Points (ITP) wins by most of the team including TrumpinJoe, Rhino4646, Johnny Oak, and GandalfDwite, was team Wizards.  Congratulations to Johnny Oak who somehow managed to post 3 first place wins.

Allthough there was a collection of ITP wins by several members of the team, including Tteradactyl, Caseybaby1, Horsewoman72, and zzHoneyBeez , The Wreckin' Ballz still fell short to land into second place.  This included an awesome performance by Horsewoman and CaseyBaby who each won first place.
   
In this the fifth period of the month, Team Hiccup finds themselves in third place, despite ITP contributions by Nobisquit, Jordan2652, and Effsea.    

When asked, Captain Effsea said, "Maybe we should start wearing pants  --  nah, dumb idea."

Sometimes we have a month where one team will take the lead and just stay there. This month one team charged out of the gate and just kept running to the finish line.  In the end, it would be a bunch of Hobbit lovers who got to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a valiant effort throughout the season and even some last minute heroics which included an ITP score by Nobisquit in all of the 6 last games and also included scores by Buzzliyear, Tom905, Jordan2652, and Effsea.  Including 1 first place win by Effsea, The Hiccup team has ended this season in last place.  So if you see any of them looking like they just lost the key to the liquor cabinet you will understand why. They do, however, win the third place prize of 2K play chips to be given away at the payout table to the team members.

In second place for the season is The Wreckin' Ballz.  The all girl team fought hard to the end with impressive showings from all the ladies which included contributions by Morganhell's, Phoenix Maya, Tteradactyl, CaseyBaby1, Horsewoman72, and the boisterous leader zzHoneyBeezz, still it was not enough to catch up to the Wizards lead.  They will get the second place prize of 5K chips per member.

In the end it was an awesome steady and all around performance of the players, coupled with a wise advice from a pointy hat head wizard, that caused a win for the Wizard team.  It was a strong contingent of players that saw contributions from every member of the team including HoboJim11247, TrumpinJoe, Wetmoose 613, Rhino4646, Johnny Oak and GandalfDwite, that was good enough to lead Team Wizards into an exclusive lead on the final day of the season.  They will split the first place prize of 10K chips for each of the players.

Very Well Done Folks  

OK let’s kick off a New Year.  For this January we will have to slip back to our smaller format.  We have several members who have indicated they cannot make full month commitments so we will only have 2 teams who will be playing heads up for top points and bragging rights.  All members who finished in the top 16 from the prior month and had 5 or more games will be qualified to be added to the teams. For anyone who didn't, please stop in and play so you can be qualified for next month's Challenge.

As usual, here are a few suggestions and rules to make it fair to everyone... This is a fun challenge and a friendly competition...  NO ganging up on opposing members, OR taking it easy on your own members.  Play as you normally do and at the end of the month, after the final game has been played, the points will be tallied to see which group gets bragging rights.

Rule 1 – The top two players (from the previous month) will be assigned as Captains of their teams and will get the honor of naming that team.

Rule 2 – Teams will consist of 8 players initially assigned to each team. If any member of a team has not played for a 5 day period within the month, the Captain can request (via a PM to me) that they be replaced by the next highest eligible player (see replacement policy below). All points earned by the replacement up to that point will be added to the gaining team’s score.  

Rule 3 – The winning team will receive 10K chips to be distributed to each of their team members (10K a piece).  Second place team will get 5K.  These chips can only be distributed at the payout table now.

Rule 4 – This month we will continue to use a scoring system that includes a combined score of Tanker Points and Knock Outs.  (Example: If 12 players, top player gets 12 points, bottom player gets 1 point.)

Replacement Policy – All players of the Drunk Tank that were not selected to be on one of the three teams will automatically be added to a free agents team.  If a player misses five or more days the Captain can request a replacement.  At that time I will assign the highest scoring free agent to the team.  If this free agent has opted out for the month I will send them a one-time request to join a team.  If they respond within 24 hrs, that they would like to join, they will be added.  If they turn down the request, (or do not respond), they will then become unavailable for the rest of the month.  Only one replacement will be allowed for each 5-day period, and no replacements are allowed in the final period.

I will add updates to this thread (approx) every 5 days as to how the teams are doing.  Good luck to all three teams and hope we can have a close race this month.

Leaping into first place with an extremely strong combination of wins by Tom905, Horsewoman72, Rhino4646, Nobisquit, and Johnny Oak who combined to finish in all 5 tournies was The Boozers.  Congratulations to Rhino, Nobisquit, and Johnny Oak who combined to post 3 of the first place wins as well.  

Allthough there was a collection of wins by half the members of the team, including HoboJim11247, Phoenix Maya, Effsea, and GandalfDwite, Team Wizards fell short to land into second place.  Helping out with the other two first place wins were HoboJim and GandalfDwite.

When asked, Captain Gandalf said,  "It's like the Desolation of Smaug all over again."

OK the second period for January is done, and one of the teams has proven it can hold on to its early lead.  However, the second team hasn't shown any signs of backing down, and there could still be a come from behind winner.

As usual the team play and performance is outstanding.  We did have to start off this month with a two team format, but the attendance has increased in the last week so we can get back to full complement next month.  Until then we still have a very impressive crew competing this month.

As usual the team play in the Tank is the best.  The attendance has increased except on weekends (must be a bunch of drunks).  Pretty sure we will have enough for full complement next month.

Well this was another one of those times when one team jumped into the lead and never gave it up to claim victory.  In the end it would be the mighty Boozers who got to sing, "We just won the Drunk Tank, We just won the Drunk Tank."

Despite a strong effort throughout the season and even some last minute scores by several members of the team, including Tteradactyl, Phoenix Maya, Effsea, Jordan2652, and GandalfDwite, the Wizards have ended this season in second place.  So if you see any of them kicking a Hobbit,  you will understand why. They do, however, win the second place.  Prizes of 5K chips will be available at the payout table if anyone wants them.

In the end it was a relentless slippery tongues coupled with the steady support of Head Booze Bum that caused a win for the Boozers.  It was a strong contingent of players that combined for 31 days worth of ITM placements by every member of the team including Howitzer2007, Tom905, Buzzliyear, Horsewoman72, zzHoneyBeezz, Rhino4646, Nobisquit, and Johnny Oak, that was good enough to keep the Boozers in the lead from start to finish.  They will also have the first place prize of 10K chips (per contributing member) available at the payout table.
