Drunk Tank Team Challenge

Wow it was a really tough race last month, but now it's already time to start a new season. As you may know we have had a tremendous surge in the popularity of our friendly TEAM challenge in the Drunk Tank. This month we would like to continue in that tradition.

For May we will once again have four teams who will be playing for top points and bragging rights. Anyone who finished in the top 32 from the prior month and had 5 or more games will be qualified to be added to the teams. For those who didn't, please stop in and play so you can be qualified for next month's Challenge.

As usual, here are a few suggestions and rules to make it fair to everyone... This is a fun challenge and a friendly competition... NO ganging up on opposing members, OR taking it easy on your own members. Play as you normally do and at the end of the month after the final game is played the points will be tallied to see which group gets bragging rights.

Rule 1 – The top four players (from the previous month) will be assigned as Captains of their teams and will get the honor of naming that team.

Rule 2 – Teams will consist of 8 players initially assigned to each team. If any member of a team has not played for a 7 day period within the month, the Captain can request (via a PM to me) that they be replaced by the next highest eligible player. All points earned by the replacement up to that point will be added to the gaining team’s score.

Rule 3 – The Captain of the winning team will receive 8000 chips to distribute to their team members. Second place team will get 4000. Third place will get 1600, and Fourth place will get a warm fuzzy feeling that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.

Rule 4 – This season we will be using a scoring system that includes Points, Games, and Knock Outs. The player’s score will be the accumulative total of the Number of games played, + the Number of KO’s earned, + the Winning Game points. Now a player can score points for their team even if they don’t reach the bubble for the night.

At the end of the month the teams will be reassigned by player position and the first 32 players who have the minimum number of games (usually 3-5) will be added to the new teams (unless they opt out).

I will add updates to this thread (approx) every 5 days as to how the teams are doing.

I don't see all but, we had a table of sit outs the other nite, your the boss, but maybe you can look at the game rule...Imo it may cause a problem...hiccup

This was brought up last month as well and I put some thought into it. First off, I don't see it as a problem yet. The sitters we have are mostly just people coming to the game late, and I find that acceptable. Secondly, a sitter who would sign up just to gain a point, would actually be giving one away when they get knocked out, so it would be a wash. A sitter has no chance of getting game points or KO's, so it really would not make sense to do so. I think we should keep it like this until we see it become a problem.

I think a few people push it passed acceptable on a regular basis, but that's just my opinion.

The first period results for May are in, and one of the teams has jumped into an early lead. However, it is very early in the contest, and there could still be some come from behind winners.

Once again the attendance and the ambiance is the best we have ever had. We are now averaging about 25 players per night. For a club that used to host single table nights, this is quite a jump.


Leaping into first place with an extremely strong combination of wins by Mischiff, Buzzliyear, JerseyRon, QueenBee9979, Chelle867, and Johnny Oak, who finished in all 5 tournies was team Boozers.

Allthough there was an impressive collection of wins by several members of the team, including GTAE92, Sandtrap777, !!!111Dan, Moxie Pip, and Faery Tats, Team Green Egg and Hams fell just short to land into second place.

In a battle for third place, the members of the Hiccups had a good collection of wins by Nobisquit, Horsewoman72, Effsea, and back to back wins by Jordan2652.

In this the first period of the month, the Mint Juleps now find themselves in fouth place, despite point contributions by Megg23, Mcrissinger, Sinman64, and 3 placements by Easychips 4U.

When asked, Captain JWK24 said, "We were just waiting for the Kentucky Derby to be over. We'll take off now."

Team Mint Juleps has requested and received a roster change. The new player will be GmaJudy and her accumulated points will be added to team Mint Juleps total score. This player will replace a non-active player that has not played for seven days. As of today this moves the team into second place and closer to the rest of the group. The second 5 day period results for May are in, and one of the teams has galloped into a good lead and is setting the pace for the others. However, it is very early in the contest, and it is still anybody's chance to win.

We are still averaging about 25 players per night and we are still basking in the glow of our club domination in the Battle of the clubs. Thanks to all the players who show up and prove, that this is the best Play money league on the planet.

Due to a recent roster change and an impressive collection of wins by several members of the team, including Easychips4U, Mcrissinger, GmaJudy, Sinman64, and JWK24, Team Mint Juleps jumped into second place.

Although not far behind in third place, the members of the Green Egg and Hams had a good collection of wins by !!!111Dan, GTAE92, Sandtrap777, Hozzer44820, and 3 placements by Mtnestegg.

When asked, Captain Effsea said, "You know, I was thinking about growing a beard if we won, but not sure now."

I will be taking a vacation from June 1 to June 7 so the team selection and update process for the Month of June will be delayed by one week. I will try to attend some of the games, but not sure if I will have internet access during this time. Either way I will not be able to keep or update scores, but will catch up when I get back.

The third 5 day period results for May have been counted, and one of the teams has stretched it's lead and is going to be hard to catch. However, it is only half way through the contest, and it is still possible that someone could charge from behind.

Still trailing behind in third place, the members of the Green Egg and Hams had a good collection of wins by Tom905, !!!111Dan, and 1 placement by Mtnestegg.

In this the third period of the month, Team Hiccup still find themselves in fouth place, despite point contributions by Phoenix Maya, Nobisquit, BrayleeGirl, Horsewoman72, and Jordan2652. With 2 first place wins by Phoenix Maya and Jordan2652.

When asked, Captain Effsea said, "Have you seen my pants? I thought I left them under the table."

The fourth 5 day period for May is complete, and one of the teams continues to stretch it's lead and looks like the team to beat. As we head into the last stretch one of the teams has bounced back and jumped up a place.

We are still averaging about 25 players per night. Thanks to all the players who show up and to those who played in the Battle of the clubs, once again proving we are the best.


Feeling comfortable in their first place lead and getting a strong combination of wins by Chilli 2U, Buzzliyear, QueenBee, and Johnny Oak who all finished in the points was team Boozers. Also providing a big boost was Johnny Oak and Queenbee with 2 first place wins.

With another impressive collection of 8 in the points wins by several members of the team, including Mcrissinger, GmaJudy, Sinman64, Dale442, and JWK24, Team Mint Juleps remain in second place. Also helping was JWK24 and Sinman64 who both had first place wins.

In this the fourth period of the month, Team Hiccup has made an amazing comeback and now find themselves in third place, with point contributions by Phoenix Maya, Wetmoose 613, BrayleeGirl, Horsewoman72, Jordan2652, and Effsea. With an awesome performance by Jordan2652 who finished first in one tournamrnt and ITP in all of the remaining tournies, That's 5 for 5.

Dropping slightly behind into fourth place, the members of the Green Egg and Hams still had a good collection of wins by Moxie Pip and an incredible 5 for 5 placements by Mtnestegg.

When asked, Captain Cyclops said, "And I did that with one eye closed. Watch out if I open the other one."

The fifth 5 day period for May is now in the books, and one of the teams continues in the lead but a second place team is starting to breath down their necks.

We had 30 people play on Friday night, one shy of tying the record. Thanks to all the players who show up and to those who continue to prove we are the best.


Hanging on to their first place lead and getting a strong combination of wins by Chilli 2U, Buzzliyear, JerseyRon, Chelle867, QueenBee, and Johnny Oak who all finished in the points was team Boozers. Also providing a big boost was Buzzliyear with 2 first place wins.

With another impressive collection of 8 in the points wins by nearly every member of the team, including Megg23, Mcrissinger, GmaJudy, Buzzonbi, Sinman64, Dale442, and Easychip 4U, Team Mint Juleps remain in second place. Also helping was Sinman64 who had a first place win.

In this the fifth period of the month, Team Hiccup still find themselves in third place, with point contributions by Wetmoose 613, BrayleeGirl, Horsewoman72, and Jordan2652.

Lagging slightly behind in fourth place, the members of the Green Egg and Hams still had a good collection of wins by !!!111Dan, GTAE92, Sandtrap777, and Mtnestegg. With an incredible first place win by Sandtrap777.

Sorry Dan - The rules state that a member has to miss 7 days before they can be replaced. At this point there are no team members that meet the requirements for replactment. Scorp will qualify to be on a team next month.
